At the beginning

In 1917 José Lozada Soto from Orense, Spain, established "Fábrica de Paraguas Iberia S.A. de C.V."

At the onset, what was considered the only umbrella store and manufacturing plant º in Mexico City was located downtown, at República del Salvador Street.

The 30's

By 1930 and in the following decades, the frames and fabrics were brought from Germany by people with power who acted as intermediaries.

Mexican hands assembling lady’s and men’s umbrellas provided each product with high-quality workmanship.

From the 60's to the 80's

In the 60's and 70's Fábrica de Paragüas Iberia S.A. de C.V. awaken to modernization. Due to the need for expansion, in 1961 the plant was moved into Colonia Álamos, within Mexico City. By 1979 Severino Lozada -Mr. José Lozada Soto only son- took the lead of the business.

The 80's paved the way to a new market: Promotional umbrellas, considered an excellent investment by companies and business. The new umbrellas became flagships to the company under the lead of Isabel Lozada Armesto, Mr. Severino Lozada’s daughter.

At present

The beginning of this millennium has been a time of change and globalization.

Raw materials are imported from different parts of Asia; however our umbrellas are still assembled by skillful workmanship. The fabric and metal frames are cut and sewn by hand; the handles are mounted into the rods by hammer and each one of the buttons along the thin nylon strips are glued by our workers.

Besides manufacturing umbrellas, Fábrica de Paragüas Iberia S.A de C.V. is currently importing finished umbrellas. This strategy has allowed the company to compete against the fierce Chinese market and the orders of promotional umbrellas have become another successful business niche. By the same token, Fábrica de Paragüas Iberia S.A. de C.V., has penetrated the market of children’s umbrellas with licensed images. These products are successfully sold to the main departmental stores in Mexico. Walking hand in hand with globalization, relying on quality and service as strategic allies, Fábrica de Paragüas Iberia S.A. de C.V. sells and manufactures sunshades, umbrellas and raincoats, as well as promotional and advertising items for the domestic and international markets.
